Tentative Program

Session 1 – Business Website Kickoff & Oral Brainstorming

Objectives:

  • Break the ice and practice oral communication.
  • Understand business websites’ role in professional communication.
  • Start individual business websites on Google Sites.

Activities:

  • Icebreaker: Each student introduces themselves and shares a business idea they’d like to create a website for (e.g., consulting service, nonprofit, online shop).
  • Group discussion: What makes a website professional? Brainstorm features together.
  • Hands-on: Each student sets up their Google Site homepage with a name, tagline, and a simple mission statement.

Assignment:

  • Finalize homepage with business name, logo placeholder (or Canva draft), and mission statement.

 

Session 2 – Presenting Business Ideas & Creating About Us Pages

Objectives:

  • Build confidence in short oral presentations.
  • Learn to structure business content effectively.
  • Add “About Us” page with bios and company story.

Activities:

  • Oral mini-presentations: Each student presents their business idea (2–3 minutes).
  • Feedback circle: Class gives supportive feedback (clarity, confidence, persuasiveness).
  • Hands-on: Draft About Us page with short bios and company purpose.

Assignment:

  • Finalize About Us page with professional English bios and a company origin story.

 

Session 3 – Storytelling & Visual Branding

Objectives:

  • Learn storytelling techniques for professional communication.
  • Enhance websites with branding and visuals.
  • Practice explaining company stories out loud.

Activities:

  • Oral storytelling: Each student tells the “origin story” of their company in 2 minutes.
  • Canva Workshop: Create a logo + business card.
  • Hands-on: Upload logo to Google Site and add visuals to About Us page.

Assignment:

  • Add at least one Canva visual (logo, team photo, or business card PDF) to the site.

 

Session 4 – Digital Communication & Surveys

Objectives:

  • Practice professional written communication.
  • Learn how to engage audiences with surveys and scheduling tools.
  • Integrate interactive tools into websites.

Activities:

  • Writing task: Draft a professional email inviting clients to test their services.
  • Hands-on: Create a Google Form survey (e.g., product feedback, customer needs).
  • Oral activity: Each student explains their survey’s purpose and how they’d use results.

Assignment:

  • Embed Google Form into Contact page of website.
  • Submit email draft for peer review.

 

Session 5 – Professional Branding with LinkedIn

Objectives:

  • Develop strong personal branding skills.
  • Build or refine professional LinkedIn profiles.
  • Practice networking and pitching.

Activities:

  • Workshop: Rewrite “About” sections in pairs.
  • Elevator pitch practice: 30-second self-introduction (peer feedback).
  • Hands-on: Add a “Meet the Founder” section on website with LinkedIn profile link.

Assignment:

  • Finalize LinkedIn About section and connect it to website.

 

Session 6 – Multimedia & Data for Persuasion

Objectives:

  • Learn to use data and visuals in persuasive communication.
  • Create multimedia content for websites.
  • Practice explaining visuals orally.

Activities:

  • Canva Workshop: Design a chart or infographic (market trends, services offered).
  • Video task: Create a 1-minute promo video (with Canva or phone + edit).
  • Oral practice: Students present their chart or video in 2 minutes.

Assignment:

  • Embed chart + video into Services/Product page.
  • Prepare a short oral script to explain them.

 

Session 7 – AI & Final Presentations

Objectives:

  • Explore AI for refining business writing and pitches.
  • Polish websites with professional-quality text.
  • Deliver final business presentations.

Activities:

  • AI Workshop: Use AI to refine mission statements, service descriptions, or FAQs.
  • Final Presentations: Each student presents their website (5–7 minutes), walking through homepage, About Us, Services, Contact, and LinkedIn connection.
  • Feedback & Wrap-up: Class + instructor give feedback; certificates of completion/recognition.

Assignment (Final Project):

  • Submit completed Google Site (with homepage, About Us, Services + multimedia, Contact page with Google Form, LinkedIn integration).

 

Program FAQs

The course is hands-on and will feature interactive sessions with polls and feedback questionnaires.

The participants will share their work and receive feedback from the instructor and their classmates.

The course is taught by Nada M. Salem, President/CEO of AFEE and IFWE. 

Nada M. Salem is a passionate educator with extensive experience in leading academic institutions in the United States and abroad. Over more than twenty years, she has taught school students, college students, student teachers, teachers, and leaders. She co-created and co- taught a methods course for teachers at The George Washington University Graduate School of Education. Nada is the Co-Editor in Chief of “Teaching World Languages: A Practical Guide- Arabic Edition” (The National Capital Language Resource Center, Washington, DC).

Mrs. Salem holds a teaching diploma, two master's degrees, one in translation and another in education, and has successfully completed most courses (33 credits) towards a doctorate (Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction & Educational Technology Leadership at The George Washington University Graduate School of Education. Additionally, she holds an Executive Certificate in Public Leadership from Harvard University. Mrs. Salem formerly served as Administrative Director and Assessment of Learning Coordinator for AACSB Accreditation at the GWU School of Business’s Master of Science in Finance Program. In September 2019, Mrs. Salem was selected as a WOMAN LEADER by the University of Maryland‘s Kahlil Gibran Chair for Values and Peace. She is a member of the Marquis WHO'S WHO® list of Prominent Business Professionals, and she was featured among Marquis Who's Who's Top Executives in Education and Leadership.

Mrs. Salem is the Founding President/CEO of the American Foundation for Educational Excellence (AFEE), an organization whose mission is to help, on a worldwide basis, influencers, leaders, HR professionals, and managers of educational institutions, profit and non-profit organizations and corporations, to pursue excellence by improving leadership skills, managerial competencies and educational programs, namely through face-to-face and online trainings.
